At the present time, Iowa is not regulating carbon capture and storage, 80% of Iowa’s electric generation comes from coal, but there has not been any effort to regulate emissions from coal-fired plants in the state. However, this year Iowa passed HF2399 in their legislature but has not been signed by Governor Culver yet. This new legislation contains a CCS provision. There is also is the CRE-10 mitigation recommendations offered to the Governor by the Iowa Climate Change Advisory Council but has not been implemented yet.
