Framework for Geological Carbon Sequestration on Public Land

Report to Congress, Submitted to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate. U.S. Department of the Interior in Consultation with the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and U.S. Geological Survey. Geological carbon sequestration has been discussed as one potential approach to reducing greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. Sequestration of carbon in geological formations on public lands presents many challenges, and it is essential that those challenges be recognized in developing a regulatory framework.
